Exploring my creative side on Skillshare also reminds me of my younger days–where I used to doodle a lot. And I doodled when lectures were boring.
Now, a little confession…
During A-Levels, in an Islamic Studies class, the ustaz went on and on about something. I feigned interest and acted as if I was busy taking notes. Actually I was busy sketching his face and facial features – his rounded face, kopiah, sideburns. He looked a little like Ustaz Ebit Lew.
Then, suddenly the ustaz got up and walked to my desk in the back row. He took a look at my sketch.
At the very moment, all my blood drained. Hahaha…😆
‘Erm’ he uttered, no further comment and returned to his table.
Phewwwwww… 😅 Tapi lepas tu tak berani dah doodle in his class.
Channeling my creative energy
I learned to channel my creative energy into Biology during my A-Level years. I found less joy in studying Bio, it’s too detailed – but I do love drawing those intricate parts of human, animals, insects and plants.

Drawing these for Biology lab reports. How those parts are shaped, connected and worked beautifully together. That was more than 20 years ago.
Yes, I’m that ‘young’😆
From drawing during A-Level Biology, I appreciate nothing is created in excess. Not even 0.5 millimeter. Everything has its place and function in an organism.
