Reviews of Elevate, a book on academic presentations

Elevate: Early reviews

Alhamdullilah! Thank youuu to all readers of Elevate! I’m humbled and happy to say that the book was really well-received at a workshop two weeks ago. It was soft-launched at USM’s teaching & learning workshop for new lecturers, towards the end of my session on Designing Effective Presentation (31 Jan 2019).

That took place on Thursday and Friday.

On Saturday morning, I was completely at a loss for words. While brewing my coffee, I saw a message from Prof. Abd. Karim Alias. He surprised me saying that he has finished reading Elevate! According to him, the book was a page-turner. He finished it in 2 hours.

Prof. Karim then proceeded sharing his thoughts with other Heads of Department, Universiti Putra Malaysia’s Vice-Chancellor and many more groups. And the next day, Prof. Karim wrote a long review about Elevate. Completely taken by surprise with his beautiful review. Thank you Prof. Karim! Really appreciate this. I had yet managed to retrieve my words…

Quoting Prof.’s review above:

… the whole idea of ELEVATE—elevating the whole presentation to the highest level and mesmerising your audience

Professor Abd Karim Alias, Director of CDAE@USM

USM librarian, Encik Ikhwan also shared his thoughts on the book below:

Thank you for the kind words. Encik Ikhwan, I love your thoughts – quoting you below:

It’s a good reference for me as presenter as well as facilitator.

After sometime, I managed to retrieve and gather my thoughts and words (post- surprises and turns of events). I took note of some friends and colleagues in Kuala Lumpur and other parts in Malaysia who wanted to get a copy of Elevate.

Even though my paperback is available on Amazon, perhaps it seems too far away or perhaps too long a wait for many people here or the pain to setup an Amazon account… I heart you.

For readers in Malaysia, now you can order a copy of Elevate using this google form.

Note: This was published earlier as a blog post together with the book distribution. Later, I decided these reviews would read better as a single post.
