It’s time for you to shine! Last week I shared free VIVA presentation templates–this week, download free SHINE templates below. Alhamdullilah, I got some ideas a few days back. Some new ideas to rejuvenate texty, tired-looking *ehem* (reads: boring) slides for academic presentations.
Use these handcrafted slides to put the power back to your points–often priced RM150 upwards. So treat yourself to a presentation makeover… 😉
These SHINE slides were created over 3 days (and nights). Countless espresso shots but I had a fantastic time designing this slide deck. Ideas simply flowed. Hard to stop the creative juices 😉
In these templates, dark executive grey backgrounds with yellow and space grey highlights were chosen over white backgrounds (compared to VIVA templates). Lemon and charcoal. A play of colours, shades and shapes.

For whom are these SHINE templates for?
The templates are for those studying or working in higher education, government or non-profit organisations. Great for research presentations in higher education that follow a typical outline:
- Title
- Presentation outline (2 slides): stepwise or text

- Research Objectives
- Methodology, Results/Findings
- Significance & Conclusions

A clean and minimalist slide deck for those of you who want to impress a panel of experts and examiners.
Out of the 18 slides in SHINE deck, my favourite is the ‘Methodology/Research Flow’ slide–a Gantt chart is always drawn in blocks and/or a straight line–but a research route goes up and down with failed experiments, negative results etc.*
A glimpse into the realities in a research–PhD, Masters or grants…
Add more points if you’d like. The Widescreen format gives you more space to add more details. Licensed under CC BY-NC 4.0, it allows you to modify the slides as you like.**
How best to use these SHINE templates?
They work like any templates. Easy edits let you customise the slides to your liking. Simply add text, images and details of your work.
Change the colours if you want. Lime green is an alternative – the colour would pop up against the dark grey.
With dark background of these templates would work best in most settings particularly in a huge conference room, due to good contrast. Do adjust the font size and amount of text for best audience viewing experiences.
For Read Me or Notes on the slides, please refer to the post on the VIVA templates. All 18 slides are fully editable for your presentations.
And please say ‘No’ to bullet points, replace text with more images. Tell your own stories or lessons.

Font family – Lato (PPTX), Avenir Next (Keynote): For PC users, for best editing and viewing, I’ve designed the PPTX files using Lato fonts in different weights. Kindly download the entire family of the font Lato here, then install them in your PC/laptops.
For Keynote users, my favourite fonts (Avenir Next and Helvetica Neue) are used in the templates.
