3 Tips on Converting a Research Article to a ScienceComm video

Communicate your research article (and sciences) to the public using some tips gleaned from the video shared by Hashem Al-Ghaili’s FB @ScienceNaturePage below.

Video Tips

Three video tips to convert a research article to a ScienceComm video:

  1. Succinct and to the point – use a script.
  2. Create an interesting short video of your publication by combining photos, illustrations and video clips. These help sustain your audience attention and interests while watching the video. They aid in clarity and understanding of your message, your work.
  3. Include brief highlights of your research paper. Highlight with ‘neon highlighters’ and pull research significance/findings from your own paper/review – present them as quotes.

As mentioned in the video, perhaps there are too many data or publications out there in biology – that people could miss this early prediction. In this case, it leads to unfortunate outbreak of coronavirus in China and many parts of the world😑

A takeaway

Consider sharing your sciences as short videos (youtube, vimeo) to inform and educate the wider audience, the society.

There are a plethora of video makers/apps out there to create short videos sooo easily. Screencastify, iMovie, Biteable, Powtoon or even your own smartphones. I share my journey into making DIY videos – hope the post could help you take the first step.

You’ll never know… perhaps a research paper shared this way could help prevent a disaster and save thousands of lives.
