Awesome PhD Presentations!

Today it is expected of a PhD candidate to present effectively throughout the study and at the viva. The art of presenting are seldom taught in our education system, but we are expected to do well in a presentation. We learn as we go along…

So how do one ‘compress’ and present a 3-year work into a 20-minute presentation? How do one impress the panel of examiners and experts? What do they expect to see in my short presentation?

The premise of Awesome PhD Presentations! workshop is based on the above key questions–often linger in the minds of a postgrad.

PhD Viva Presentations

For seasoned examiners, it is quite easy to predict the outcome of a PhD viva. A candidate’s presentation at the beginning of the viva is the first telltale sign of the depth and breadth of a candidate’s understanding in the quest for knowledge. To be recognised and acknowledged as the expert in your own field of studies. Likewise, in any research presentations–proposal defences, seminars and conferences.

Yet many students falter, seem unsure of one’s work to give a presentation that impresses examiners. Based from my 13 years experience as a former academic sitting in numerous academic presentations, I have formulated effective ways for PhD researchers to give awesome academic presentations.

Who is this workshop for?

Awesome PhD Presentations! workshop is for middle- or late-stage PhD (or Masters) candidates in the science-based fields. Ideally the candidates are in their writing phase and/or waiting for a viva-voce.

The strategies and tips gained in the workshop will help prepare you, not only for viva-voce presentations but also for conferences, elevator pitch, research progress or 3-minute theses (3MT) that you might encounter. Academic presentations that one might deliver as a postgrad–Masters or PhD.
